Agricultural Resilience in Zambia

The World Bank has approved $110 million in loans and grants to support climate change resilience in Zambia, specifically aimed at protecting the agricultural sector from weather shocks. The Zambian government will present a climate change program at this week’s World Bank Group Annual Meeting. Zambia remains highly reliant on agriculture, and with rural poverty rates at 79%, is sensitive to any kind of climate disruption. Representatives from the World Bank note that providing security for the agricultural sector is a good bet for increasing employment and promoting economic growth. (Source: AllAfrica.com)
