The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) will take on the lead role in the new Global Rice Science Partnership, a CGIAR research program that “will address the need to grow more rice in the coming years to feed the world’s population with less land, less water, and less labor in more eco-efficient production systems that are more resilient to climate change.” AfricaRice earned the leadership position by its contribution to significantly increased rice production in several African nations over the past few years.
